SUPAR Students Take Art Prizes

SUPAR is proud to announce that two of our students, Alberto and Akeem, took top prizes in the Scholastic Art Awards-Wisconsin Regional Competition and Exhibition.  Their work will be on exhibit January 31–March 8, 2009
in the Schroeder Galleria & Pieper Gallery at the Milwaukee Art Museum, downtown at the lakefront.

SUPAR's art teacher, Barb Opferman, announced that Alberto received a Scholastic Art Award "gold key" for his  painting of his sister.  His work will go on to National Competition  after the Scholastic show at the Art Museum.  Akeem's self-portrait won a silver key which means his work will go on to the state  competition.

"The Silver Key Award denotes special statewide recognition; Gold Key Award–winning artworks continue on to the national competition, along with those from over sixty-five other regional competitions throughout the nation. Students whose work receives a Silver or Gold Medal at the national level will be honored at Carnegie Hall in New York City in June." SUPAR is incredibly proud of these accomplishments.  We congratulate Alberto and Akeem, their families, and Barb for their talent and hard work.
